Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this problem.Īny software updates that help with this issue will be shared via updates to this article. We would have to test those new units, and make sure they work with EyeTV as expected. If there was a change from the older units, beyond the Product ID, then any fix may take longer.
If there was no change from the older units, except for the Product ID, then a fix should be very fast. That process is still ongoing – we don’t have the final word yet. We’ve asked Hauppauge to give more details about these newer HD PVRunits. To find out if your HD PVR has the newer Product ID:ġ) Choose About This Mac from the Apple Menu.Ģ) Press the More Info… button to start the System Profiler applicationģ) Check the USB section, and highlight the HD PVR to find out its Product ID Identifying the Hauppauge HD PVR Product ID Units with Product ID 0x4903 are not yet usable by EyeTV. But the HD PVR 2 undeniably does what it says on the tin, and it does it slightly better than expected. Some Hauppauge HD PVR users are reporting that their device is not connecting to EyeTV.įrom examining their setup, we have found that their HD PVR is identified in a different way than other HD PVRs.ġ) EyeTV identifies hardware by various means, including Product IDs.Ģ) Hauppauge and Elgato worked together a while ago to register certain Product IDs with EyeTV.ģ) If a Product ID is not on the list, EyeTV won’t connect with it.Ĥ) From user reports this week, there now is a new Product ID for the HD PVR in circulation, one that we hadn’t seen until now.

The lack of PS3 HDMI support is unfortunate if hardly Hauppauge’s fault, and £120 seems slightly expensive for such a single-minded device. The HD PVR 2 we tested only supports stereo audio, though a new Plus edition enables 5.1 channels. PS3 videos look less rich and detailed, but you can always clearly see what’s happening. Xbox recordings from Bioshock Infinite and Dishonoured look the best, with rich colours, HD detailing, excellent motion fluidity and reasonably few compression artefacts. This software can record in three different formats (and you can start recordings via a button on the device’s top) and allows easy editing and uploading. Introducing the HD PVR 2 between your console and screen brings no obvious lag, though video streams take a few seconds to appear in the supplied ArcSoft Showbiz software. Xbox users can loop their console through the HDMI, but unfortunately the PS3's encrypted HDMI output limits you to 1080i or lower recordings via component versus the Xbox’s 1080p. The small, shapely HD PVR 2 is equipped with an HDMI throughput, plus an ‘AV Input’ slot (which includes HD component video support). If this sounds like you, then the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition, a standalone PS3/Xbox/Wii video recorder, is right up your FPS alley.
